Right of Attendance
Can you attend Parish Council Meetings?
Meetings of the Parish Council are open to the public, and members of the public have a statutory right to attend as observers except where the Council formally resolves to exclude the public (this includes the Press) on the grounds that publicity would be prejudicial to the public interest due to the confidential nature of the business being considered. Members of the public do not, however, have a right to speak unless the Parish Council Chairman authorises them to do so.
